Talking about leadership at work with Baamboozle

Shared by Isabel García:

I was familiar with most of the resources explained in the course, but there was one I didn't know about it and this is: https://www.baamboozle.com/

I entered to check it and I LOVED it, as other resources, it offers a wide range of ready to use activities. I was browing among them and I have chosen some to use with my VET students of Administration and Finance and International Commerce.

Here I explain the ones I have used so far:

This one is about the different types of leadership style.

I chose it because right then, we were dealing with this topic : leadership at work. We had been learning about the qualities that a good leader should have and the game was a perfect ending for the unit.

I organised the students in two teams (I have small groups) and they were competiting between them. Through the questions they reviewed the vocabulary learned, they had to think to give the answers and for some of them they had to speak and explain themselves, the other team had to decide if the explanations given were satisfactory.

It was fun, because in the game they have to select the number of the questions they want and some of them they don't have questions, they offer bonus or penalty instead.

They enjoyed so much the previous game, that I decided to use the same website to review one topic that always is problematic, which is the correct pronuntiation of the past simple and participles of the regular verbs.

First I uploaded in Teams a Youtube video to teach and practise this point:

and then we played the game again by teams, the other team should decide if they got the point or not. After the activity, I think they are more aware of the correct way to pronounce the "ED" ending.

I have spent all the year long correcting them with little result, and after the game when they read and get across this ending, I can see they try not to misspronounce it, as they did before (they used to pronounce it like "ed", I am sure you all know what I am talking about).

Finally, I am also planning to play this game:

In this game the student choose a number and he has to talk for a minute about the topic suggested. Great activity to trigger speaking.
